Much as a starlet might get “white-glove” treatment in the form of assistants catering to her every need and desire, moving companies can offer customers white glove service for their next move. But whereas our starlet friend gets mochaccino and nail filing, a customer who chooses white glove moving service gets professionals to their home or business to box, load, and ship their items and furniture – and to unload and unpack at the final destination.
Is White Glove Service Right for Me?
Some may look at the higher price tag associated with white glove moving services, and wonder if it’s really necessary to go through all this trouble. Why not simply do the packing yourself?
The DIY approach is certainly a fair one for many people. If all you need to transport are small, easily movable home goods, clothing, and the like, it’s a great way to save a few bucks. White glove service is perfect for customers who need to ship things like:
- Valuable artwork and/or antiques that require special, delicate care
- Large furniture that will require disassembly and reassembly
- Extremely heavy (and delicate) items, like pianos
Take a good look at your packing list and determine whether this is something for which you might need the help of a professional.
What Can I Expect if I Choose White Glove Service?
In short, the full package – you’ll get knowledgeable moving professionals arriving right at your doorstep, where they’ll take over every aspect of your move for you – from safely packing smaller items and disassembling larger ones, to loading up the van or truck, to unpacking and re-assembling at your new home or office. You’re welcome to walk through the process with them, ask questions, and share any concerns you have about specific items, but don’t worry about getting your hands dirty.
